Disempowered, Deteriorative, Destructive

As a woman, a cyclical being, sensitive to the energetic ebb and flow of the life/death/life nature, I struggle to resonate with the ways of the modern world.

Destruction of earth, pollution of our air, rivers, lakes and seas, toxins in our soil, food, and water, sexualization of both women, young girls, and boys, false news, education curriculums lacking vital information & material supporting our progress and health, laws limiting same sex love and freedom of expression, mass incarceration for petty crimes that stemmed from a restriction of our intrinsic curiosity of life, unnecessary war with neighboring nations, the criminalization of plants, and a wealth accumulation in 1% of the population.

The fear we have grown accustomed to towards the unknown (other people, other nations, our future) has led the individual to mistrust their very own species. This mistrust only breeds an absence of camaraderie and strong community, two of the most essential things for happiness, growth, security, and stability. With this absence our emotional intelligence deteriorates as does our intuition - our gut instinct, our deep inner knowing of truth and how life is supposed to be. And without this innate intuition, we’ve slowly lost our way.

Our confidence.

An empowered state of being.

Flourishing health and vitality.

High standards for education and raising our youth.

A reverence for calling upon our elders for their wisdom so that we can pass it along to future generations.

So how do we get back to a flourishing, empowered, confident, trusting, empathetic, and supportive state? How do we return home? If you asked me, I would tell you that a softness is needed - the ability to nurture and be nurtured. I would tell you that this world has been very, very hard on you and hence, you have been very hard on yourself. You’ve lost your imagination, your curiosity, your belief in the magic that can’t always be seen in physical form. You’ve lost the sense that you are more than a mere mortal body. That you too are a soul, a spiritual being, an existence that is surviving without a mental capacity needed in order to ensure your heart continues to beat, oxygen is supplied to your lungs, blood continues to flow, and life continues to exist all around you while supporting your very existence, too. The chance that you’re alive right now is so very small, yet here you are! It’s an absolute miracle! And yet, your huffing and puffing over a red light, over traffic, maybe a slow internet signal or a dropped call. You may have forgotten to look up and let life amaze you - amaze you with its seemingly simple order, yet billions of multifaceted complexities that don’t ever miss a beat - a complex consciousness that is alive and breathing, enabling us humans, plants, and animals to do the same. It’s a wonder how we got here, all strung out, tied up, and caged in, looking for a way out, another drink to take away the pain or numb the heartache of being alive.

But, you still have so many opportunities to change how things are, for the better, for magic to once again infiltrate your cells and enliven your mind and heart. All it takes is desire, and we know about desire. Desire drives us to do all good (and not so good) things in life. But as long as we’re geared towards good, towards something better than what is right here right now, then that’s where we’ll go! It’s as simple as that. Look forward, go forward. Look back, stay back. Reach higher, get higher. Cut corners, reap less of the whole.

Truth, honesty, and integrity set the stage.

Imagination, humility, and desire lay a strong foundation.

Perseverance, vitality, and optimism fuel the machine.

Community, inquiry, and creativity oil the gears.

Patience, empathy, compassion, and love breathe life force into the journey.

Awareness, presence, and equanimity keep you on your toes.

We must continue to question the world around us with an optimistic, yet sharp and realistic understanding. We must question the food were eating and water were drinking - this is important. We must question what were putting on our bodies, what we breathe in, and what happens inside our bodies once those things are absorbed into us. We must question the sincerity and truth of the news and big corporations with great sums of wealth.

“Doubting everything and believing everything are two equally convenient solutions that guard us from having to think.” - Henri Poincare, Of Science and Hypotheses

To conclude

When a system profits off of fear, mental illness, war, inequality, and general confusion, it’s time to say enough is enough. Time to act accordingly, while prioritizing our self empowerment and healing before trying to fix others or a system at large.

Our actions, or inactions, hold a massive weight in the future of our world.

How you spend your dollar, your words, and your presence, makes a difference.

And ignorance is only bliss until you realize that you are supporting a system that supports mass oppression.

If what we’re living in is considered peace, then I’m not here to help keep it. I won’t keep the peace.

But I will remain peaceful, remember peaceful, support peaceful. I will remain full of peace.
